By the time you receive your
puppy he or she will have begun potty training outdoors, this starts when the puppies are 5 weeks of age. I
DO NOT train our babies to "piddle" on "piddle pads". In my experience, puppies trained on "piddle
pads" take longer to house break than those taught to "go" outside. It also teaches a dog that it is ok
to "piddle" on anything that lays on the floor! By beginning potty training as such a young age DOES NOT mean
your puppy will be completely potty trained when you receive him/her, it simply means he/she will be used to "doing his/her
business" outside. By beginning training before leaving us, allows your puppy to acclimate to the outdoors. This will
enable an already frightened puppy to continue having positive results once he/she enters his/her forever home making the
whole transition easier for all! ~~~~~
Next to Good Health ~ Socialization is Key!
Did you know that the most crucial time for socialization of a puppy actually occurs between
8 -16 weeks of age? Sure they are learning to socialize before they are 8 weeks of age, but the majority of that socialization
is with the litter and the breeder before 8 weeks. Your puppy goes through a rapid growth spurt both mentally and physically
between 8 - 16 weeks which is why it is IMPERATIVE to socialize your puppy to as many situations, obstacles, animals, and
people as possible until they are 16 weeks. You should introduce your dog to everything you think he will encounter during
his life between 8 - 16 weeks! Sound tough? Well it is, but if you want a stable and outgoing dog, you will have to be committed!
