<image:title>About Us - About Us!</image:title>
<image:caption>Jake Felkner- Owner Jake got into the dog training in 2013 when he started to look for his first dog. He bought a pointing lab in 2014 and found a summer job working as a bird boy. Even though he learned the basics working with one pro, he’d still get out every summer and take the time to talk to other trainers and learn different training techniques. Jake found the training as his passion and knew he wanted to start his own kennel. Jake started working with flushers and pointing labs for a few years until he got his first shorthair. He could not take one over the other, so he has decided to train and compete with both in Hunt Tests. In Spring and Summer, he likes to focus on getting dogs ready for hunt tests, tune-ups before the waterfowl season, and get them prepared to chase and point pheasants. As an avid hunter, he tries to hunt waterfowl and get to game farms pointing and flushing pheasants as much as possible. He enjoys hunting trips to Tennessee, the Dakotas, Kansas, or Missouri to hunt Snow Geese, Canada Geese, Ducks, Pheasants, and Quail.</image:caption>

<image:title>About Us</image:title>
<image:caption>Tyler Mieden- Assistant Trainer Tyler began training in 2018 after he bought his first dog, Mack. Tyler started training Mack to run in Hunt Tests and that's how he met Jake. The two met at a Hunt Test in Fall 2018. Tyler began training with Jake regularly, and they often discussed training techniques and philosophy, of which they discovered they held similar beliefs and values. Tyler began to help Jake with training sessions and dogs in for training. In the summer of 2019, Jake brought Tyler on as a member of the WSK team. Tyler would describe himself as a "training drill nerd". He loves studying and reading about drills and loves the process of watching dogs progress and grow through training. He handles much of the Basic Obedience work laying the foundation for dogs as they progress through the WSK training program. He is an avid hunter who enjoys chasing roosters and waterfowl in the fall, but loves the spring & summer training season. Tyler resides in Oconomowoc with Mack, his wife, and 2 daughters.</image:caption>

<image:title>Testimonials - Our Client Dogs.</image:title>
<image:caption>We have had an excellent opportunity to work with many wonderful clients, and they showed a lot of progress throughout their time here. A few dogs come back for additional training or a tune-up before the next season. Here at WSK, your not just a client; you're a part of the family. I tend to have a limit of dogs in for training to ensure each dog gets multiple sessions a day. We pride ourselves on also working with the owners and showing you how to continue training with your dogs when they leave. We love to keep all owners in the loop with videos and pictures of your dog's progress with us.</image:caption>

<image:title>Testimonials - “I took my 11-month-old lab to Jake to tune him up for the upcoming hunting season and to say I’m impressed is an understatement. He was with WSK for a month and at the end of that month we took him to his first hunt tests and he passed them no problem. Without WSK he would have never gotten that far. Today we just took him on his first goose hunt and he did fantastic. WSK made my dog into an amazing one. None of this could have happened without them.”</image:title>

<image:title>Testimonials - “We brought our 6-month-old black lab to WSK. The change we have seen after only 3 weeks of training is truly remarkable. Major has learned almost all Basic obedience plus has a good head start on waterfowl retrieves. Jake has great patience and an extensive base of knowledge coupled with upfront honesty. When it comes to training your dog I truly believe he is among the best. We can’t wait to see what the next round of training brings out of our dog.”</image:title>

<image:title>Testimonials - “ We sent our 9-month-old silver lab to Jake and could not have been more pleased. Our plan was to reinforce basic obedience, introduce gunfire and birds. Jake was awesome from day 1. Kept in communication and promptly answered all messages and calls we made to check-in. He sent videos and updates that keyed us into Remi’s progress. After 2 weeks I met with Jake and Remi to see his progress and was amazed how far Remi had come in 2 weeks. We wanted to be sure Remi was our family dog 1st and hunter 2nd. Jake had Remi in his own home to help with the family dog side of things. Remi previously slept in a kennel at night but now we trust him in our room. Dominance issues with our other dog have subsided and our home is what we hoped for with two dogs after this training . At the end of week 4, I was again super amazed at Jakes’s progress with Remi. This visit was the return home visit. Jake and I spent a good amount of time going over what the training methods were, what to expect upon getting home, and how to reinforce/ continue training. Jake offered to help should I be unsure how to continue or if we needed anything We got Remi home and didn’t let him fall into his old habits and used the training Jake taught me. For the first 6 months of Remi’s time with us, we struggled with his behavior and training. After 4 weeks with Jake, Remi is a different dog and we are excited to see just how far Remi will go!!! Thank you for your help and I know we will be using Jake as a resource and recommending him to anyone who asks. ”</image:title>

<image:title>Testimonials - “ Jake is an amazing trainer!! He has been working with my daughter’s 10-month-old lab on basic obedience the last two weeks and he has successfully trained him already to place in our house ( super helpful when company comes over, as he no longer is jumping upon them). He has him walking on a leash and heeling in addition to training him to be off-leash and not running away and actually listening. . He is a completely different dog and it is truly because of Jake!! Not to mention that you truly look forward to seeing Jake everyday and learning new things. I fear that he will be very sad when his month of training is up. If you are looking for a caring, trusting, trainer that really will treat your dog like his own give Jake a try!!!”</image:title>

Tilly doesn’t miss a chance when it comes to hunting as she is a big upland guide dog and an avid Wisconsin waterfowl dog giving her over 1,000 retrieves before the age of 3. Tilly can run hard in the upland to sitting quiet and steady in her duck blind and when the job is done she will lay on your lap and watch TV. She earned her Started Hunting Retriever Title, Hunting Retriever Title, and Upland Hunter Title all before the age of two. <image:title>History - About WSK</image:title>
<image:caption>40 years is a long time ……. Full of fond memories, wonderful people and great dogs. Doug got drawn into dog training due to his love of waterfowl hunting and the need to have a well trained dog. He gained experience from a well known person in the business, Mary Knapp, and because of the success he had with his own dog, friends were soon asking him to train THEIR hunting dogs, and Waterdog Specialties began in 1981. In 1990 Doug and Patti got married and she became part of the business. In addition to the In House training that was offered, the business began to offer training classes where people learned to train and handle their own hunting dogs. Their breeding business expanded as well, and many people throughout Wisconsin and beyond, own a “Kennedy dog”. Doug and Patti competed in both AKC and UKC hunt tests, titling many dogs in all 3 levels; Junior, Senior and Master. Doug became a Master qualified judge as well. The Kennedy Family includes sons Sean and Ryan and while they both love, own and hunt Labradors, their interests don’t provide them with enough time to take over the business. We are full of happy memories, but ready to give up the 24/7 commitment a kennel brings and with that being said, we are turning the leash over to Jake Felkner, a young, energetic and talented trainer. He will be taking over Waterdog Specialties and making it his own- including breeding and training pointers along with retrievers. Jake's love of dog training began when he was 15 years old. Being too young to drive, his parents would drop him and his dog off at our retriever training classes and he enjoyed the whole experience. A big thank you is extended to anyone who bought a puppy or trained with us through out the years- you have enhanced our lives greatly. Take care and happy hunting!</image:caption>
