Retriever Training Group Classes

We enjoy working in a class setting for upland and waterfowl training with the owners handling their own dogs. We strongly urge the owner/handler training class as a way to build a strong “teamwork” bond between dog and hunter. Basic, Intermediate and Advanced classes are available. The classes are limited to six dogs per class. It is a six week training session, each session lasting about 2 hours.

Basic Training

The basic retriever training class is for the dog and handler with limited exposure to training and hunting conditions. This class is not merely for puppies but also for older dogs with limited training experience. The class will cover the necessary basics needed to develop a strong foundation for further training and field work. Important introductions will be covered that are needed for both Upland and Waterfowl hunting.

Basic Training Includes: Birds on Land and Water, Decoys on Land and Water, Gun Introduction, Proper Training Equipment, Obedience Techniques.

Intermediate Training

The Intermediate retriever training class is for the dog and handler that are already experienced and have a grasp on the items covered in the Basic Training Class. This will be for further advancing field and water skills in retrieving and quartering work.

Intermediate Training Includes: More advanced retrieves, Utilization of cover and structure changes, Steadiness and control.

Advanced Training

The advanced retriever training class is for the dog and handler that want to reach the top with their performance! Please note: To enroll in this class your dog MUST deliver birds and bumpers to hand.

Advanced Training Includes: Multiple marks on land and water, Honoring off lead, Steadying off lead, Diversion Birds
